High-Ability Students’ Need Satisfaction and Motivation in Pull-Out and Regular Classes: A Quantitative and Qualitative Comparison Between Settings

In this two-part study, high-ability students’ experiences of need support, satisfaction, and motivation in regular pull-out classes were compared. Quantitative results from Study 1 indicated that students (N = 203) reported more satisfaction their needs for autonomy, competence, relatedness favorable motivational outcomes class compared to class. both settings, predicted outcomes. These findings could be explained by the qualitative 2 which 11) experienced teachers as supportive than teachers. Overall, suggest need-supportive teaching is an effective strategy foster well classes.
